In an interview with Bloomberg, Xiaomi’s Vice President of Global Operations Hugo Barra, once again confirmed that the Chinese company has no plans to launch its smartphones in the U.S. market anytime soon.

Barra says in the interview that Xiaomi will “someday” sell its smartphones in the United States, which at the very minimum is more than a year away. He says that selling phones in the US will require a huge undertaking from the company in terms of customer support, service center, localisation of the hardware, and more.

Despite being available in China and other limited Asian markets, Xiaomi has been growing at a terrific rate. The company sold 34.7 million smartphones in the first half of this year, which might be lower than its expectations, but is not a small figure by any means.
