Facebook Moments

Facebook’s Creative Labs has just announced a brand new standalone app for your Android device, adding to the ever-increasing list.

With Facebook Moments, users will be able to upload their images they’ve taken to the app, and have a one-stop-shop for sorting them, grouping them together, and even using technology to get facial recognition to help find what you’re looking for. You’ll be able to search to find a friend, too. Facebook Moments will let you share those images that you’ve taken, and that your friends have taken, more securely, and without including the entire friend’s list at the same time.

Syncing photos with the Moments app is a private way to give photos to friends and get the photos you didn’t take. Moments groups the photos on your phone based on when they were taken and, using facial recognition technology, which friends are in them. You can then privately sync those photos quickly and easily with specific friends, and they can choose to sync their photos with you as well. Now, you and your friends have all the photos you took together.

Facebook Moments will be available for Android at some point today, but as of publication, it’s not listed just yet. It will be rolling out into the United States beginning today, and other countries sometime in the future.
