Sony has finally started rolling out the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for the Xperia ZL, months after it had initially promised. Surprisingly, the company has rolled out the update first for the ZL, and not its waterproof and more popular brother -the Xperia Z.
At the moment, Sony is rolling out the update for the LTE and the HSPA+ variant of the ZL in the Europe, and the C506 variant in the North America. Apart from the usual Android 4.2.2 features, Sony has also updated its media suite of apps and added supported for higher capacity microSD cards.
The official change-log from Sony for the update is below -:
– Latest version of Sony Media Apps with seamless integrated services
– my Xperia application that helps you find your phone and secure everything you have on it. Read more at myxperia.sonymobile.com
– New Customizable navigation bar with quick settings
– New widget functionalities, both on lockscreen and homescreen
– Support for bigger (64GB) SD card so that you can store even more on your Xperia
If you own an Xperia ZL, the OTA update notification should pop-up on your phone sometime soon. Otherwise, you can also try Sony’s PC Companion to update the phone using your PC.
Xperia Z owners will be understandably angry on Sony for rolling out the Jelly Bean update for the ZL owners first. However, the Android 4.2.2 update for their phone should not be far away as well.
