Samsung today announced that it has partnered with Trusonic — the leader in Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) — to launch Trustonic for KNOX.
Trustonic for KNOX already comes embedded on the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge, and will be made available to other handsets via a software update.
Samsung’s KNOX was already known in the Android ecosystem for the safety and security it provided to enterprise users, but by partnering with Trustonic, Samsung is taking things to the next level.
“We understand the importance of evolving Samsung KNOX to meet the ever-changing needs of enterprise and professional mobile security,” said Rick Segal, Vice President of Enterprise Business Team, IT & Mobile Communication division at Samsung Electronics. “We will continue to provide solutions to our customers and partners that allow them to feel confident and comfortable in using their mobile devices in the workplace. Embedding the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge with Trustonic for KNOX will enable ecosystem players to build new services and applications that will take mobile security to a new level.”
Trustonic for KNOX “combines the advanced and robust integrated security features of Samsung KNOX with Trustonic TEEs’ hardware-based security” to provide a safe, secure and trusted platform to service providers to deliver “an enriched, simplified and consistent user experience.”
Trustonic for KNOX will protect Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge users from click-jacking, and will also allow them to use simpler passwords for authentication.
Trustonic for KNOX is aimed towards governments and enterprises, and is not meant for normal consumers.
