Google unveiled its new online Google Store earlier today — an online home for all the different gadgets it sells. However, the Nexus 5 was missing from the website, and the Google Play listing of the handset also said that it was no longer available for sale.

Google has now officially confirmed to The Verge that it has indeed stopped selling the Nexus 5.

Google spokesperson told The Verge today that “while some inventory of Nexus 5 still exists (with our retail and carrier partners), our focus is on the Nexus 6 at this time.”

A report towards the end of 2014 had suggested that the Nexus 5 was no longer in production and will soon vanish from retail stores once it stocks depleted. However, Google shot down the report and said that the Nexus 5 will be available through selected retailers and Google Play at least until Q1 of 2015, and right on time, the company has decided to stop selling the LG-made Nexus 5.

Despite being inferior to many flagship handsets of 2014, the Nexus 5 remained a popular handset among consumers because of its manageable 5-inch screen, performance and an attractive price point.
