Besides the Xperia Z4 Tablet, Sony also unveiled a new mid-range Xperia handset — the M4 Aqua. The company has focused on the water-proof capabilities of its new mid-range handset, and thus, it comes with an IP65/8 rating. Sony has also done away with a flap on the microUSB port — a first for any Xperia smartphone.

The front and back of the 136gm light handset is protected by a tempered glass. Under the hood, the M4 Aqua packs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot. The front is adorned by a 5.2-inch 720p IPS display from Sony with its usual suite of display enhancement technologies onboard.

At the rear, the M4 Aqua comes with a 13MP snapper with a f/2.0 aperture and an LED flash. The front camera has a 5MP resolution. Just like the Xperia Z3 and the Z3 Compact, the M4 Aqua comes with a dedicated shutter key. It also comes with a 2400mAh sealed battery, which Sony says is good enough to power the handset for two days.

Sony will start selling the Xperia M4 Aqua from Spring this year in more than 80 countries in white, black, coral and silver colors at a suggested retail price of €299 ($335).
