At the beginning of February, Xiaomi confirmed that the company would hold a small press event in San Francisco on February 12.
At that event, which was to introduce the U.S. market to Xiaomi, but not to actually launch any new products in this part of the country, Xiaomi discussed quite a few things and showed off features that have made the brand popular in China. One of the noteworthy announcements made at the press event was centered around how many MIUI users are out there right now.
According to Xiaomi, that number is 100 million.
Add to that the revelation that, in China, five of the top eight Android-based smartphones activated are Xiaomi-branded handsets. A strong presence in China has certainly made the company fire up the ranks within the Android army, but when that will translate to a launch in the United States is still up in the air. Right now, the company simply doesn’t have any plans to make that happen.
