Sony has traditionally held press conferences at MWC every year to announce its flagship devices for the first half of 2015. However, this time around, the company is taking a different approach and will not be holding any press conference.

Instead, the company will directly be opening its booth for the media at MWC on March 2nd and will be announcing its new devices on the same day as well. It is more than likely that Sony will not be releasing the Xperia Z4 at MWC this year given the lack of rumors and leaks around the device.

A report from late last month suggested that the Japanese company is looking to increase the lifecycle of its flagship devices to improve its profitability.

If rumors are anything to go by, Sony will be announcing a few mid-range handsets at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this year. The company has reportedly turned its focus towards mid-range devices to boost the declining sales and profitability of its smartphone division and is also planning on cutting an additional 1,000 jobs by March 2016 to reduce its operational costs.
