Just a day after being available to the public, the folks over at iFixit have torn down the Nexus 9 and revealed all its innards. 

The teardown reveals that getting inside the Nexus 9 is pretty easy as the back cover is held in place with chips, which can be popped off with sturdy fingernails or a pryer. The Nexus 9 internals are held in place internally by wires and glue perfectly matching its price tag of $399.

The teardown also reveals that the 8MP F/2.4 camera module used by HTC on the Nexus 9 is also found inside the Desire 616. An interesting tidbit noted by iFixit is that the front-facing BoomSound speakers on the Nexus 9 look more like earpiece speakers compared to the “far-heftier speakers found in the latest iteration of the iPad Air.”

While the tablet was relatively easy to open, iFixit did face some difficulty in separating the LCD from the display assembly, which had among the toughest adhesive they have ever encountered in a tablet.

In the end, iFixit gave the Nexus 9 a repairability score of 3 out of 10 deducting points for the LCD being fused to the glass and the presence of delicate cables inside it, which can break easily during assembly and reassembly.
