Why trust Greenbot
Qualcomm’s “Snapdragon 400” brand is a bit confusing. Until now, we’ve known that the Snapdragon 400 featured two Qualcomm Krait cores. Today, that changes. The company has introduced a new chip with the same Snapdragon 400 name that has four ARM Cortex A7 processors and built-in 4G LTE. This new chip has all the same features as the “old” Snapdragon 400, but this new quad core configuration is obviously beneficial form a marketing perspective.
Even AnandTech, a site that I consider to be the leading expert on all things chip related, said this:
“It’s essentially the same 8×26 SoC (still quad core ARM Cortex A7s at 1.2 GHz and Adreno 305), but this time includes the modem IP block from the upcoming MSM8974 and MDM9x25 family, which means Category 4 LTE (FDD/TDD) with support for carrier aggregation and DC-HSPA+ in addition to the other legacy 3G interfaces you’d expect.
How fast will four ARM A7 cores be compared to two Krait cores? Good question.
