After the HTC Desire 610 became official for AT&T, it was announced that the manufacturer had plans to expand the Desire brand in the United States, specifically through other carriers. Now, a pair of new reports suggests Verizon will be another U.S.-based carrier to launch a Desire-branded handset.

The first image of the Desire 612 comes from Verizon’s equipment guide support site, and shows a breakdown of some of its key schematics. There’s even a user manual for the unannounced handset. The image accompanying the details shows a handset with rounded edges, and a camera/flash combo that’s centered high on the handset’s backside, all recognizable design choices for HTC’s Desire family of handsets.

Another report published by TK Tech News lays out the groundwork for the rumored specifications of the upcoming handset, coupled with a rumored leaked press image. The report claims the Desire 612 will boast a 4.7-inch display, with a resolution of 960×540. There’s also an 8-megapixel camera on the back, a 1.3MP front-facing shooter, a battery measured in at 2040mAh, a microSD card slot, and 8GB of built-in storage.

As far as a launch date goes, it’s believed that the Big Red carrier will make the handset available for subscribers beginning Thursday, October 9, which is the day of the week Verizon generally launches new devices. The Desire 612 will reportedly come to market with a $19.99 price tag, coupled with a new, two-year contract.

If you’re on Verizon, would you consider picking up the Desire 612 with its cheap price tag?
