Amazon has just announced a refresh for its Kindle line-up of eReaders, which brings with them some much needed generational improvements. First in line is the new $79 Kindle that comes with a 20% faster processor, double the storage compared to its predecessor, and most importantly, a touch interface.

Next in line is the Kindle Paperwhite — the best-selling Kindle since it was introduced — which now comes with double the storage space as well while retaining its price point of $119. Last but not the least is a new addition to the Kindle line-up — the Voyage.

The Kindle Voyage uses a new generation of Paperwhite display allowing it to deliver the highest resolution (300ppi), contrast and brightness (29% brighter) ever seen in a Kindle. Amazon has also included a new way to turn pages in Voyage dubbed the PagePress. You will simply need to rest your thumb on the bezel and then turn the page by lightly by pressing it, which will then provide a tactile feedback from the haptic actuator.

Amazon says that the vibration intensity is subtle enough to only let users know that the page has turned without distracting them from their reading. Nevertheless, the company still offers an option to customize the pressure level and the haptic feedback level.

The Voyage also comes with free 3G in over 100 countries allowing you to download and read books anytime and anywhere. Amazon will be paying for this 3G connection so you don’t have to worry about any monthly charges.

Amazon is also launching a new origami-style cover that comes with a portrait as well as landscape stand for the Voyage starting from $44.99.

All the three new Kindles will also be coming with Kindle unlimited that will provide users with 700,000 books for just $9.99 a month, Family Library so that you can read books from the Amazon account of your partner, Deeper Goodreads integration, Enhanced Search and an expanded X-Ray for books.

All the new Kindles are already up for pre-order on Amazon’s website and will start shipping in October.
