In my OnePlus One review, I had mentioned in passing about the ghost swipe issue plaguing the handset, which made typing quickly on it a frustrating experience. The root cause of the issue was with the touch panel provided by Synaptics and could only be fixed by them.
Last month, Synaptics had delivered an updated Touch Panel firmware to the CyanogenMod team, which was included in the 33R update for the One but that did not solve the ghost swipe issue permanently.
Now, it looks like Synaptics might have finally fixed the issue. Over the last couple of days, the CyanogenMod team has updated the Touch Panel firmware on the OnePlus One twice in CM11 nightlies, and they seem to completely fix any touchscreen issue whatsoever.
I have been personally using CM11 nightlies on my One because of the number of bugs present in CM11S and can vouch for the fact that the ghost swipe issue is now completely gone.
The present CM11S build of the OnePlus One contains quite a few other bugs as well including a high battery drain, which have also been fixed in the nightly builds of CM11.
While there is no official ETA from the CM team as to when the OTA update update for CM11S will go out containing the fix, I’d expect the wait to be no longer than a couple of weeks.
If you cannot wait for that long though, you can flash the latest version of Franco’s kernel or this kernel from XDA, which already contain the updated touch panel firmware. And if you are already running CM11 nightlies on your One, make sure to grab the latest nightly build to fix the touch screen issues once and for all.
