HTC has released quite a few of the apps found on its devices on the Play Store since the launch of the HTC One M8, and the Taiwenese manufacturer is continuing that streak with the launch of the Sense 6 lock screen app, which is now available for new HTC devices via Google Play.
The lock screen isn’t something you would expect an OEM to spin off as an app, but the separation of features from the core OS is exactly what has helped HTC (and Google) in pushing out major software updates at a faster pace. At the moment, the lock screen app doesn’t do anything new – users can swipe right to access BlinkFeed, left for Widget Home, or up to unlock to the previously used app, though HTC has added an unexplained new mechanic to prevent users from accidentally triggering factory reset.
Hopefully, we will see the Sense 6 lock screen get some interesting new functionality with future updates. For now, head over to the Play Store to grab the update if you’re using an HTC phone running the latest version of the company’s software skin.
