Moto G2 in Indian import database

While Motorola’s Moto X successor, the Moto X+1, has been receiving the lion’s share of attention leading up to Motorola’s official announcement scheduled for September 4, in Chicago, Illinois, the Moto G’s successor is still coming, too. The middle child in Motorola’s new Moto family saw quite a bit of love when it launched globally in 2013, and now Motorola is gearing up to launch the successor. And it looks like India is getting a pretty big focus right out of the gate.

According to a report surfaced by Android Central, the Moto G2 has been found within the Indian import/export database, Zauba. According to the documentation found therein, Motorola has already imported a total of 70,200 units of the Moto G2. According to the documentation, the import pricing is set at Rs. 10,600 (about $175). That’s noteworthy, only for the fact that means the import price for the Moto G2 is cheaper than the original Moto G, which had a price of Rs. 10,900.

As noted in the original report, this means that the 16GB Moto G2 could see a similar pricing of the 16GB Moto G, or about Rs. 13,999 (about $130) in India. The documentation doesn’t have any findings of an 8GB Moto G2, though, so it could only be the 16GB option made available right out of the gate. And while the listing has “Moto G” instead of “Moto G2,” it’s the model number (XT1068) that indicates the successor’s arrival. The database also indicates that the device will come in white and black variants.

As far as specifications go, the Moto G2 is rumored to have a 5-inch 720p HD display, with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor under the hood. It will reportedly also have dual-SIM functionality, along with an 8-megapixel camera on the back.
