AT&T upgraded their own Moto X variant earlier in August, and now it looks like it is Sprint’s turn to get into the fun. The company has officially begun rolling out their Android 4.4.4 KitKat update for Motorola’s hero device of 2013, and with it, plenty of new additions are being tossed in.

The update, which brings the version number up to 212.44.28.en.US, will bring the latest version of Android to the device, which is generally good enough of an update for most people. But for those who need new features, too, Motorola has Moto X owners covered.

Here’s Sprint’s list of the noteworthy enhancements and new features coupled with the new software:

  • Android™ 4.4.4, KitKat® – Android 4.4.4, KitKat, is the latest release of the Android platform. This release includes several stability, framework and security fixes in addition to accuracy improvements to the power profile.
  • Camera – Improved image quality – Improved camera image quality including better consistency of exposure, more realistic flash coloring, improved photos in low light conditions using front camera.
  • Camera – Pause video recording – Added the ability to pause video recording with a convenient pause/resume button on the viewfinder.
  • Updated Phone dialer – Updated Phone dialer with a new graphical layout and colors to improve consistency and usability.
  • Motorola Alert application – New Motorola Alert application sends periodic alerts with your location to your selected contacts. Now available for download from the Google Play Store.
  • Sprint’s update page was last updated on August 20, but it looks like the update itself just started officially rolling out to Moto X owners. As usual with an over the air update, it will be rolling out over the coming days, so if you don’t get it today, you should get it soon.
