Yesterday, Sharp teased the incoming Aquos Crystal, a device that will be launching in Japan soon. In the same reveal, though, it was confirmed that the device would be headed to the United States, soon, with most bets on Sprint being the carrier of choice, considering SoftBank is launching it in Japan. Sure enough, that’s the case, and the mid-range device has a strikingly low, off-contract price tag to go along with it.

Sprint has confirmed via an official press release sent out on August 19 that the Now Network will indeed be launching the Sharp Aquos Crystal soon, but they’ve still managed to leave out any specific launch dates at this point. However, we do know that the device will feature the 5-inch 720p HD display, the 1.2GHz quad-core processor, an 8MP camera on the back, with a 1.2-megapixel shooter on the front. You’ll get to choose white or black, and there’s 8GB of built-in storage. The battery is measured in at 2040mAh.

Here are some other key features:

  • Harman’s LiveStage™ provides a more lifelike headphone listening experience by adding dimension to the sound
  • Clari-Fi™ technology improves digital sound quality by restoring all types of compressed digital music
  • Clip Now, which takes screenshots with one swipe and saves them with an embedded URL for easy sharing
  • As far as pricing goes, Sprint customers will be able to pick up the device for just $239.99 without a contract. Or, if you prefer to pay a monthly installment for the handset, you can expect $0 down and $10 per month for 24 months.

It is still worth noting that not only is Sprint getting the Aquos Crystal, but so are Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile. Both of those carriers will offer the device for $149.99, no contract required.
