When Google introduced Android L, they did so with gusto, showcasing what they call Material Design. With it, Android gets a major facelift (along with other Google-based properties). Google wasn’t open about when Material Design would see the light of day during the announcement, just referencing future plans, but many thought we’d have to wait until this fall when Android L saw its public release. Turns out, that’s not the case.
We saw a quick tease of the Google Play Store’s incoming update to Material Design last week, and that was apparently just the icing on the cake, as the Material Design update is now apparently rolling out. The updated version of the Google Play Store brings it up to 4.9.13. But, as duly noted by Android Police, not every aspect of the Play Store has been updated quite yet.
The main navigation areas have seen the change to the new aesthetic design, and many other key elements, like landing pages for some apps and content. Other areas, are completely untouched as of yet. Though, the rest of the areas will likely see their own update soon enough.
Everything looks sleeker in the new design, and just as we’ve seen in Android L with a heavy focus on animations, the new elements in the Google Play Store also showcase new animations for transitions and the like.
Have you picked up the update to Google Play Store yet?
