Just like the Galaxy S5 and iPhone 5s, the HTC One M8 can record videos in slow-motion as well. However, unlike its chief competitor — the Galaxy S5 — the One M8 allows users to slow down and speed up playback of certain parts of a video, which is what makes a slow-mo video really tick.

If you own a HTC One M8 and are wondering how to record slow-motion videos and edit them, read below to find out.

Step 1: Open the Camera, tap the small square just below the shutter button on the right and switch to Video mode.

Step 2: Tap the 3-dot menu button on the bottom left and then tap the first (camcorder) icon from the left. Then, switch to slow-motion mode by tapping the second icon in the list (the person logo).

Step 3: Now, tap the shutter button and record the video like normal. When you are done, head over to the Gallery app and open the slow-motion video.

Step 4: By default, the whole video will playback in slow-motion. But if you want to increase/decrease the playback speed of a certain part, simply start playing the video and then tap the 3-dot overflow menu button, select Edit followed by the Adjust playback speed option.

Step 5: In the Editor that opens up, use the slider on the right and the time slider on the bottom to increase or decrease the playback speed of the desired part of the video, respectively.

The iPhone 5s started the slow-motion video gimmick, but once you actually start using the feature, you will realize that slow-motion videos are a great fun to shoot and share with your friends and families.
