Ready for some pretty wild rumors? Let’s start with the one that’s supposed to come true next week. According to the Korean publication DDaily, Samsung is going to announce a limited edition version of the Galaxy Note 3 that uses the company’s flexible AMOLED technology. Now before you get too excited, note that flexible in this case means the display is simply made out of plastic instead of glass. I very highly doubt Samsung wants you bending your phone.
The second rumor is a bit more speculative, but also equally in the realm of possibility, and it’s about LG. Supposedly they’re going to announce a phone this month called the “Z” that will feature a 6. (https://www.algerie360.com/) 0″ display that also uses flexible screen technology, and I’d bet that it’s AMOLED too, not LCD. The source is ZD|Net Korea, and they cite “industry sources”, who we know are always accurate, right?
So now you have to ask yourself, should you put off buying that Note 3 or Nexus 5 or iPhone 5s for either of these two devices? I’m gong to go out on a limb here and say neither of these devices will be available for purchase outside of South Korea. Just yesterday I ran a piece from yet another Korean publication that said Samsung and LG, combined, can only output about two million flexible displays a month.
That doesn’t bode well for international markets.
