Sony is unshackling Android M from ’s Nexus devices. On Monday, the company announced that 10 of its Xperia devices would be able to run Android M. You can now download a test build of the next generation of Android to any of the following Sony Xperia smartphones tablets: 

  • Xperia E3
  • Xperia M2
  • Xperia T2
  • UltraXperia T3
  • Xperia Z1
  • Xperia Z1 Compact
  • Xperia Z2
  • Xperia Z2 Tablet
  • Xperia Z3
  • Xperia Z3 Compact

Note that this version of Android M is built from the Android Open Source oject, which means it won’t come with apps or services. You’ll also have to jump through several steps to make this happen, as Sony’s instructions tell you to download a set of files from , additional files from Sony, then compile them all on your desktop with the proper software. If you’re not a developer, this isn’t for you.
