en your phone starts to get a little older, you’re always left wondering whether or not it will get the latest Android software updates.
Fortunately, there’s good reason for optimism about getting llipop if you have a Galaxy S4. A video uncovered by SamMobile shows the hset running a Touchz-modified version of llipop, much like we saw last month on a Galaxy S5.
It’s definitely a work in progress, as key features like -Fi connectivity aren’t yet functional. It’s based off an older developer build of llipop, which indicates Samsung has been tinkering away on this for a while.
The video accompanying screenshots show that Samsung has dialed back its Touchz-heavy h just a little, letting you enjoy all those Material Design-inspired animations notification cards. Yet the look of Samsung-specific icons, the app drawer, other elements are still very much Touchz.
The impact on you: The Galaxy S4 was one of the most popular phones of all time, so it’s good to see it getting the latest version of Android. Android 5.0 is designed to run on a wide range of devices, including low-end phones like the Android One series, so there’s no reason Samsung can’t configure it for the GS4.
